Lancaster Farm Fresh
An Organic Farmer's Cooperative

CSA members have the opportunity to purchase a fruit share to be delivered with their vegetables each week!

A fruit share from LFF CSA costs $100/season (full share) and $50/season (half share).  LFF will deliver fruit (packaged separately) with your vegetable share beginning approximately the second week in June.  You will receive 19 weeks of fruit during the season.

You can expect cherries and strawberries in June; peaches and plums in July; peaches, plums, pears and apples in August; pears and apples in September; and apples in October.  The variety and amount will change with market availability and price.  An example of a typical weekly share in mid-September is 8 Bosc pears or 8 smokehouse apples.  You pay approximately $5.25/week for a full fruit share and $5.55/week for a half fruit share.

Most of the fruit in your share will be grown at Kaufman's Fruit Farm in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania.  The Kauffman family owns and operates their orchard, consisting of 135 varieties of fruit grown on 120 acres in Lancaster County.  They currently use integrated pest management* (IPM) practices to deal with insects.  They are experimenting with organic growing practices and we will carry the fruit produced organically whenever possible.

When certified-organic fruit is available Lancaster Farm Fresh will provide it to you.  Our farmers grow watermelons, cantaloupes and strawberries, in quantities large enough for CSA distribution.

*Pesticides and insecticides are used in IPM practices.  Pesticides are used in specific areas of orchards where a harmful insect has been recognized as a threat to fruit production.
